IRENE B. GIESSL, EdD

Irene Giessl, EdD, is a Psychologist in private practice and co-founder of the Cincinnati Trauma Connection in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Dr. Giessl is an EMDRIA-Certified Therapist, Approved Consultant, regional coordinator for the Greater Cincinnati Regional Network, and EMDR Institute Facilitator and Logistician, and Volunteer Facilitator for Trauma Recovery (EMDR-HAP).  She served on the EMDRIA Board of Directors, including two terms as Secretary. 

In 2011, Dr. Giessl received the EMDRIA Outstanding Service Award in recognition of persistence and fortitude in educating others about the value of EMDR Therapy. She is a past member of the EMDRIA Conference Committee. She has traveled extensively nationally to facilitate trainings and offers private consultation to local therapists.

Her Master's Degree and Doctorate are in Clinical Counseling from the University of Cincinnati.  She is a graduate of the Cincinnati Gestalt Institute Training Program, as well as the Post-Graduate Training Program in Couples, Families, and Intimate Systems of the Cleveland Gestalt Institute.

During her career spanning more than thirty years, Dr. Giessl has worked extensively with trauma, anxiety, bereavement, and addictions in individual and group settings.  She has experience with critical incident and emergency services and taught college-level courses to traditional and forensic groups.  Dr. Giessl also assists other clinicians who seek consultation for basic training requirements in EMDR.

Dr. Giessl is a Psychologist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and member of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).  She is also a member of the American Psychological Association, Ohio Psychological Association, Cincinnati Academy of Professional Psychology, EMDR International Association, and is a Diplomate and member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
